Daria Karpova Ghost Writer
Cary Bouchard is a struggling writer, bitter and disappointed even though, let’s admit it, he doesn’t struggle all that much. But the universe just plain doesn’t appreciate Cary. He has a boring life and a boring job. But once a brilliant idea bounces out of nowhere and changes his life. He writes like a man obsessed. Or possessed. He doesn’t even remember the process. But who cares about small memory lapses when the newly born novel promises to bring him fame and fortune? At least, his new publisher promises him all that, and more. As the story progresses, things are looking weirder and weirder for Cary. Murders with the traces leading to him. Hallucinations. Mysterious strangers. Odd incidents. Dreams of blood. A clandestine fan that might or might not be a killer getting his inspiration from Cary’s book. Finally, could the book Cary wrote be a fruit of someone else’s imagination? Or perhaps, the seeds of the story rose from such dark depths of his soul, they corrupted it forever. The weirdness mounts up until Cary begins to question his reason. But unlike his sanity, his vanity never wavers. Not even when he begins to realize the horrifying truth.… Ghost Writer offers not one but a whole collection of compelling twists on the classic tale about art and evil. It is a complex, darkly entertaining, and at times wickedly funny offering that will keep the readers glued to the page in a wild ride to the sarcastic, gruesome and riveting grand finale. And there is something else—an added bonus titled "Lover's Eye," a little gem of a short story exploring the same theme of the price an artist pays for inspiration. |
